This is the seventh paperback printing of The Spell of New Mexico, published in 1990 by the University of New Mexico Press in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The front cover is nearly identical to the first paperbound printing of the book in 1985. The cover design is by Dan Stouffer. The front cover photograph was taken by Dick Kent Photography and features the edge of a hogan with a vista of mountains, shrubs, and a settlement with log buildings in the distance. The back cover contains a synopsis of the book, praise quotes, and a brief biography of Tony Hillerman. "Hillerman," the book title, and "New Mexico" are printed in black on white along the spine.
