This is the full and detailed view of the first edition dust cover proof by Peter Thorpe. The front cover has a light woodgrain background. The author's name is printed in raised metallic red. The novel title is printed in raised metallic purple. The illustration is a representation of a Navajo Yei figure in front of an upside down triangle with feathers hanging from the sides. Inside the triangle are some sandstone formations on one side of the Yei figure and Ship Rock mountain on the other side, below a sky with clouds and New Mexico sunset coloration at the top.
As this is a proof of the original dust cover, the flaps are blank and the back cover displays only the woodgrain background.
In the final version of the cover, the woodgrain was replaced with a more abstract patterned background resembling sandy or gravelly ground.
