These are the full and detailed views of the dust jacket of the first paperback Japanese edition of A Thief of Time. This edition was published in 1990 by Hayakawa Publishing INC, in Tōkyō , Japan. This edition is also associated with the Mysterious Press, which is a trademark of Warner Brothers, INC. and was used by Hayakawa Publishing, INC. with permission. Tony Hillerman's original text was translated from English to Japanese by Tadao Oba. The title in Japanese is 時を盗む者 and directly translates to "One Who Steals Time."
As is typical with popular press items in Japan, this edition comes with a paper publisher's ribbon wrapped around the exterior of the title.
The dust jacket for this edition has both a front and back fold-out. The front fold-out contains a list of characters and the publisher's information and the back fold-out contains a picture of Tony Hillerman.
Cover design and art: Cover design was completed by Shiro Tatsumi, who completed the covers for several Japanese editions of Tony Hillerman novels. The cover art depicts a repeated image of a white-on-black ceramic vessel with the figure of Kokopelli in the center.
