Plymouth (automobile)

A brand of American car, first introduced by the Chrysler corporation in the 1920s as a low-cost sub-brand that would compete with Chevrolet and Ford, the two-most popular car makers that were dominating the market. Over the decades, Plymouth gained significant popularity, although never successfully matching its rivals.

Pleiades

A cluster of seven stars located outside of our solar system. Historically, the Pleiades were very important to many world cultures. For people in the Northern Hemisphere, when the Pleiades rise above the eastern horizon, it marks the beginning of spring and the beginning of planting season. For the Ancient Greeks and other mariners of the ancient world, the appearance of the Pleiades in the night sky signified sailing season in the Mediterranean.

The Pleiades are also known as the Hard Flint Boys in some versions of Navajo tradition. According to these versions of Navajo mythology, after the earth was separated from the sky, Black God had a cluster of seven stars, the Hard Flint Boys, on his ankle. Every time Black God stamped his foot, the Flint Boys would jump up to his knee, hip, shoulder and finally his forehead, where eventually they remained. When this happened, it revealed to everybody that Black God was in charge of the sky. In fact, today, we still can see the Flint Boys, namely the Pleiades, high in the sky in autumn and winter.

piston

A central component in many engines and mechanisms, a piston is short, cylindrical part that moves up and down inside a fitting tube as a result of expanding gas or liquid, usually the result of an applied heating process, such as combustion. As the gas or liquid expands, forcing the piston through its cylinder, the piston transfers its movement to other parts of the mechanism via a rod that connects the piston to a crankshaft or flywheel.

A pistol is a firearm, or gun, that can be used with one hand, leaving the other hand free for defense or the use of another weapon. There are two main classes of pistols: revolvers and automatics. Revolvers are multi-shot firearms, meaning individual bullets are encased in a revolving element. Automatic pistols are more modern and involve multiple bullets stored in a magazine chamber just below the barrel of the gun.

The substance in an object that reflects various elements of the light spectrum while absorbing others. The element of the spectrum that are reflected become the color, or pigment, visible to the human eye. In biology, a pigment is a genetic, natural substance that is responsible to giving color to plants and animals. Chlorophyll, for example, is a pigment that gives plants a variety of green colors, and melanin is a pigment that, to a varying degree, darkens human skin and animal fur.
