Frank Kessler was born in Canton, Ohio, in 1915. He graduated from Ohio University and the William McKinley School of Law. Kessler was office manager of Hischer-Clarke Electric in Canton until his retirement in 1980. After his death in 1990, the photographs collected for the book, Kilroy Was There: A GI's War in Photographs, were found by his family.
