Submitted by Kevin Comerford on

President Garnett Stokes just released her Summer Reading List

"The summer is always spent with my nose in a good book. This year, I plan on immersing myself in all things New Mexico by traveling this great state and reading about it as well. Thanks to your wonderful, diverse suggestions, my 2018 summer reading list includes the following:
Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya
• Death Comes for the Archbishop by Willa Cather
• A Brief History of New Mexico by Myra Ellen Jenkins and Albert H. Schroeder

Syllabus on Navajo Mysteries and Culture: The Four Corners with Tony Hillerman

Developed by Bruce Morrissey, Ph.D., this is the syllabus for a two-semester course in which the student should expect to read about 7 first class mystery novels each semester. While reading and enjoying the Tony Hillerman mysteries, students will discuss the examples of Navajo religion, spirituality and culture portrayed in the stories. Special thanks to Bruce Morrissey for giving his permission to repost this excellent syllabus.
